  • No person may advertise alcoholic beverages where the advertising:
    • Is directed at a person of minor age or induces a person of minor age to consume alcoholic beverages;
    • Directly or indirectly portrays consumption of alcoholic beverages;
    • As an element that enhances the importance, social prestige or success of a person;
    • As a means of improving athletic performance;
    • As an essential element in a person's participation in activities;
    • As an aid in surmounting personal problems;
    • Associates the consumption of alcoholic beverages with the driving of a motorized vehicle;
    • Induces a person to consume alcoholic beverages in an irresponsible manner.
  • Alcoholic beverages may be advertised where the advertising:
    • Is intended to promote abstinence or moderation in the consumption of alcoholic beverages or to provide information on the effects of irresponsible consumption of alcoholic beverages.
    • Public signs, posters and commercial advertising must be in French
  • Exceptions:
    • On public signs, posters and in commercial advertising, the following may appear exclusively in a language other than French:
      • The firm name of a firm established exclusively outside Quebec.
      • A name of origin or a place name designating a place situated outside Quebec.
      • A recognized trademark within the meaning of the Trade Marks Act, unless a French version has been registered.
      • A cultural or educational product or activity, or a news medium may be promoted exclusively in a language other than French, provided that the content of the product, event or news medium is held, published or broadcast in that language.
